Am I the only one that isn’t amazed by Scrybe

So having finally taken a look at the video for Scrybe I feel a little let down and disappointed.

Why?

Well for once this isn’t even about the embedded youtube video. Its about what is meant to be the “killer” feature of Scrybe..

“Seamless offline access - without any installations”

wow that sounds great, magic, amazing until you watch the video. The way they are doing it without having anything to install is using the work offline function most browsers have.
Don’t get me wrong thats a great feature and some good coding but its not very user friendly.

It just doesn’t seem “cool” or fancy in anyway. It seems like Ford saying they have found a way of saving 20% petrol usage by putting the car into neutral when going down a hill.

Its not all bad

I do like some of the other features, such as the zoom able calendar views but really I fine 30boxes plain and simple, and thats the way I like it.

The time zone feature is ace and something Lotus Notes/Outlook doesn’t have.

I can’t put my finger on it but there is something I just don’t like about scrybe. Maybe its that they seem big headed in the video and make themselves out to be the best thing since sliced bread (mmm sliced bread is good) or maybe its the Apple, Google, Yahoo!, Ajax (as in the washing soap), Windows Vista logos they keep pointing up. I understand they are trying to stay that these companies have been/are trying to develop online applications but personally I don’t think you should show off until you have something to prove.
Wait till Techcrunch say how much they love you and think your the next best thing (http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/10/21/scrybe-could-set-a-new-standard-in-office-apps/)

was the design meant to be funny?

The first thing I thought when I saw the logo was is this real. Thinking about it now I’m starting to think that maybe, just maybe its someone taking the mike o’reilly.

The Web2.0V2Logo Creatr made this

web2.ooh Scrybe
We will see what the future has for Scrybe and I’ll wait for them to prove me wrong, although I will not eat my own hat.
